todbartellRe: Deer/Coyote load for the good ol' 30-06
Might be a little destructive on deer if you hit the shoulder, and I would not expect it to penetrate too deep. Probably would work well on broadside lung shots though. I load 110 gr. V-Max for coyotes, and 165 gr. Interbonds for deer in my 30-06, but if I were looking for a dual-purpose load, I'd just go ahead and shoot coyotes with my deer load.

Keeps it simple, without sacrificing killing power on deer.
As for the scope, I have a Burris 3-9 with the Ballistic Plex reticle, and I like it. I think you will find the range bars a neat feature.

RuffHewnThat velocity might prove to be be above the bullet's parameters on a close range shot except broadside straight through the ribs avoiding shoulder and leg bones.
165-168gr bullets are best for the .30/06 and .308 for a wide variety of game and vermin. The 165-168 is only my opinion as some .308 shooters step down to 150gr and some .30/06 shooters load only 180gr bullets, both with complete satisfaction.
