You didn't say where the bullet landed, but for me, a 140gr bullet is a bit light for a 500yd elk rifle. I'm not a fan of the .270 in any flavor, but for those who like the caliber, I think it's going to be very succesfull. Get one & have at it.

I just got a Featherweight in 270 WSM,only tried a couple diferent loads so far,but it liked both, shot accurately at all velocities.I'm using the 130 gr Scirocco for deer at 3307 fps.I'll move up to the 150 gr A-Frame for elk.

What is your scirocco load?
I loaded mine with 66.0 grains of h4831 and only got 3080 fps. I was under the impression that this was close to a max load for a 130 grain scirocco.

The load listed in the Swift manual for H4831 is
Min-64.2 gr @ 3077fps Max-69 gr @ 3265fps 98%LD
I'm using RL19
Min-62.8 @ 3082fps Max-67.5 @ 3295fps 96%LD
If you want any more let me know.
