Which would you choose.350 Rigby to the .358 Norma?

I'd get the Norma,simply because you can make brass for it really easy and cheap.

How's your 375 Weatherby shooting?Have you found a 378 yet?

. Paul H here from Alaska has the Rigby and he claims a little ballistic advantage over the Norma. However I'm not sure if it is worth the cost of dies/brass/reamer. I have not had any problem finding factory brass for the Norma. Found 80 piecees of brass at a local shop and bought another 99 from the classified here on the board. Got a used set of dies for $25. Mine was built on a Pre-64 Winchester in 30-60. Feeds and ejects without any work to the action at all. Just screwed on the PAC-NOR barrel and checked headspace.

You might take a look at the .358 STA. I shoot a couple that are very accurate with 225 to 280 grain bullets. Just this weekend I shot two near one hole groups with each. A Winchester Model 70 shot 270 grain North Forks at an average of 2914 fps. A Winchester Model 70 action with a "Lilja" barrel shot the same load an average of 2964 fps. The Norma and Rigby rounds are indeed excellent, I thought I would mention the STA, for your comparison. [Wink]

The Norma is the easier to make brass for . from 257 Weatherby on up . 338 Winchesters are a load and shoot/fire form . Fun cartridge .

I am having a .358 Norma mag built. The .350 is a great round we had a client hunt with one a while back. I remember him saying he felt the .358 was about the same as his his bigger 350 Rigby mag.

.358 Norma Mag

Reasons:

1. Easily available brass & dies.

2. 358 Norma seems to be one of those "balanced" cartridges that will shoot a big variety of loads with easily obtained exceptional accuracy.

3. Will easily kill anything in your area with proper bullets, then will go on and kill whatever was behind what you shot.

Mine was one of two most accurate medium-bores I ever owned. Hope your's is for you, too.

358 Norma, because:

I already have a 350 Rigby [Big Grin]

358 norma brass is easier/cheaper

The 350 requires one to start with an action that has an -06 sized bolt, but can take a mag length action, and mag dia cases

If you're going to use a mag length action, you might as well make it a 358 STA

350 brass is either very exspensive, or an utter pain to make.
