I have my eye on a win m70 in 243 I hate 243. I have never owned A m70. I can get a deal on this one 400 nib and change cal to either 308 or maybe the 338-08 now 338 fed. what do you guys think

The 308 or 338 Fed are just a quick rebarrel away and should feed perfectly with no changes. Spend $600 to get a top-flight barrel installed by a guy who knows what he's doing and you're set.

I've never owned a M-70 I didn't like. Rebarreling to either of those cartridges will suit you well as both will handle a lot of big game and deer as well. You might consider the .358 winchester also as it's in the same category.

Installing a good barrel and rebluing should run about $300 give or take.

It's just a barrel swap for changing the 243 to 260, 7-08, 308, 338 Fed and 358 Win. Figure $150-$300 for the barrel and $100-$150 for the gunsmithing.

Good idea, I've been thinking about something like that myself. I have no use for a .243 except as a varminter. The .260 or a .338-08 makes me think. clap

It also needs to be blued unless you add a stainless barrel.
