Continental Arms made very good rifles for a short period of time, but I believe they went out of business. Well made products with good materials and engineering. Not sure why they went out of business so soon, could be price, they weren't cheap. If memory serves correctly they were from Washington state.

Continental Arms was a small shop in New York City during the '50s and 60's. They mostly imported custom and fine production European rifles and shotguns, and such will have their import mark stamped on them.
The rifle at Cabelas looks like a Browning, after they stopped using commercial FN 98's.

It appears to be an FN....but darned if I can see an extractor on it.....I'm not sure at all.

IMO, at 4K this rifle is way overpriced. It is some version of the FN Mauser action, (as were the Brownings of that same era), and although the engraving appears tasteful, and the stock is made from pretty wood, they've ruined the overall effect by giving it a seriouisly exaggerated monte carlo cheekpiece,
and what's worse (gag! choke! sputter!) them damme white line spacers on the forend tip, buttplate and grip cap.

I was just looking through some old brochures and found what I was looking for. I was thinking about Arnold Arms which was located in Washington, not Continental Arms.

I comepletely agree. I hate the white spacers and cheekpiece. Plus it is way overpriced. I was thinking about calling and making an offer around 2,500.

checked the link.this was not the quality continental arms generally sold.maybe they were in their death throes when this one got out.continental-winslow-weatherby.not as nice as a vintage FN,browning&should command less.cabelas seems to ask2X value of most stuffBEST,kim
The gun is there on consignment and the owner has about $2800 in the gun so an offer of $2500 is probably going to be turned down.

Yes I've handled it and I liked it. I do not know how it shoots however. Very nice engraving. The white spacers can easily be eliminated by a competent gunsmith.
