Browning BAR II owners, magazine strangeness
Hi,
got a .338WM BAR II and recently noticed that when closing the magazine door with bolt locked in the open position, the bolt "head" presses down the top cartridge into the magazine slightly. I have up until now noticed from time to time the small clearance between the bolt and cartridge but now it is gone, even more with a new spare magazine I recently bought. My dealer claims this is a "security feature to ensure you pull the bolt handle full backwards when loading". This sounds a little strange to me, especially since the cartridges tend to stay pressed down into the magazine when pulling the bolt fully backwards, thus risking a feeding jam.

Any BAR owners out there that can check if with the bolt locked open and the magazine inserted with cartridges, there is a clearance or if the bolt pushes the cartridges down into magazine?

Goran

Hi Goran, I've just checked my BAR Evolve 300WM, and yes, I've noticed the same issue for the first time! bewildered ; I can hardly believe that it's a "security feature" but who knows.....
