Stryker22530-06 convert to 9.3x62??
I have a CRF win 70 in 30-06 laying around gathering dust. Want a more African caliber.
Is this an easy conversion?

Jeff SullivanGreat question. I have been curious about this too.

GeedubyaI have posted previously in the thread "My New Favorite" about a Sako 75 "hunter" I purchased used last year. It started life as a 30-06. The fellow I purchased it from goes by the "handle" Handwerk. I believe he posts mainly on 24hourcampfire. As I recall he had the barrel rebored by a company named "Clearwater reboring".
However, it might be easier to have a local "smith" rebarrel. As you probably already know, the 9.3 x 62 is basically a 30-06 necked up to .366.
I like mine.

vapodogYou should have very little trouble turning a .30-06 into a 9.3 X 62.
Post this on the gunsmithing forum for more opinions.

analog_peninsulaMy 9.3 was originally an H&R 330 (FN Mauser). A simple barrel replacement (Lothar Walther) was all that it took.

ramrod340It is an easy conversion. However unless you are currently in love with your old barrel I would go the new barrel route.
As usual just my $.02

Dr. LouGedubya, I am still sore that I missed out on that deal.

Converting your 06 to 9.3 is a great decision. Lou

GeedubyaDr. Lou,
and after reading your posts and several PM's, there is no one that presently comes to mind that I would have rather seen have it, after myself of course.
Best,

Stryker & Jeff,
Piece-of-Cake!
My 9.3x62 started life as a L/H Zastava .30/06 Sprg. as well; the gunsmith who did the work said he re-barreled it (Lothar Walther, of course), headspaced and ran a couple magazines full of dummy cartridges through it with minimal tweaking. It hasn't missed a lick since.
Do it & have fun - a great cartridge.
Cheers,

SnowwolfeEasy as pie. I purchased a used 9,3x62 on a Ruger that started out as an 30-06. Previous owner told me all he did was have it rebarreled. Feeds like butter
My biggest fear is when I die my wife will sell my guns for what I told her they cost.
