Snellstrom270 WSM Range report.
My brother is working out of town and all his guns are in storage and he is due to come back here for a Deer and Elk hunt so what better excuse could he have to buy a new gun, have it shipped to me so I could mount up the scope and get it shooting.
He ended up with a Win M70 with a laminate stock in 270 WSM. I mounted a 3-9x40 Leupold VX-II on it, adjusted the trigger and bought some 130 grain Ballistic Silvertips and shot it today.
After getting it sighted in to 2" high at 100 yards I cleaned it again and shot 3 shots all of which were touching in a neat little group just right above the bullseye. Didn't measure the group but it is definitely under .5". I think this one is going to be a shooter.
This gun is a bit heavier than my 30/06 and has 2" more barrel but doesn't kick as much as the '06, one thing I noticed is that it has substantially more muzzle flash in broad daylight. Thats not a problem just an observation.

Savage99I like the 270 WSM. My Kimber does not shoot that well but my M70 in 7mm WSM does now and then.
I would load a tougher bullet than that 130.

FireformMine loves the 140 grain TSX at around 3250fps, which makes for some potent juju. Flat shooting, hard hitting.

MyNameIsEarlI am an A-frame fan and shoot 140 grain A-frames out of my 270WSM. My notes are not in front of me but I got great results with R-22. It was near the max load.

TN270WSMI am obviously a big fan of the .270WSM and my Browning Mountain-Ti will consistantly shoot .5" and under when I do my part.
It really likes 140 Accubonds and IMR 4350!
