Bird-ManWeatherby Vanguard 300 WBY Mag
I am looking at buying this rifle from a buddy who no longer uses it. I have notice the trigger isn't the best. Is it adjustable? I am also interested in knowing what else to look for. Any knowledge would be great.

kjjm4If the trigger is the same as a Howa 1500 (the action definitely is) then it's adjustable. If you can't get it adjusted well enough to suit you, there are replacements available from Timney and a few others.

LabmanLast year I bought a S&W 1500 in mint condition at an auction. These guns are a Howa 1500 with a decent walnut stock. I did a google search on adjusting Howa triggers and found some instructions. A few turns of the screws and I now have a great trigger. Give it a try. If it doesn't work, you can also drop a Timney in your gun.

williebBe careful! Adjustment effects the safety, also.

chuck375See how much he's asking then price out a new Vanguard Series 2 in 300 Weatherby (has a better trigger). The original Vanguards were selling new for under $400 for a while so a used one should be going real cheap for a very serviceable rifle.
