If you where to choose only one bullet for your 30 caliber magnum rifle to use for all your hunting needs be it for moose, bears ,deer etc which would you pick......

If I could only have one, it would be either the 180 gr. Nosler Partition or perhaps the Barnes TSX. Either of those should do for anything in NA.

168 gr Barnels triple shock. I haven't shot enough game personally with it, but a buddy has used the 165X as his only 30 cal bullet, and swears by it, for game big and small. At 3200-3300 fps, it is very flat shooting, yet it's construction will have it performing similar to a 180 gr of heavier cup/core bullet.

I have hunted with a .300 Win mag for 30 plus years and for me the bullets would be either a North Fork or Nosler Partition in 180 or 200 grain, the larger bullets for the larger game. I have taken many Deer, Elk, a Brown Bear, many Caribou. I now use a larger chambering on the Bear. Good luck and good shooting.

I would be most confident with any .300 Mag using 180gr Nosler Partiions to go after anything in North America.



The key thing with any kind of hunting using any caliber rifle is to put the bullet where it does the most damage and has the most killing effect, providing you are using a good field proven bullet, like the 180gr Nos Partition. If you are successful here, then the animal dies very quickly no matter how big it is.. If you don't.. Well there ya are.

After trying about every bullet out there in my 300 H&H, I settled on the 200 gr. Nosler partition, and I have never had any reason to regret that choice...It works on duiker, whitetail, Eland and Moose and will even kill a Cape Buffalo.....I don't even shop around for bullets anymore for that rifle, no need to.....
