Well, we had three more members show up with new Savage rifles at the club. All are very accurate. I’m about ready to get one for myself. Thinking about one in .300 WSM caliber. What do any of you think of the new trigger from Savage? Any comments, pro or con? Lawdog

I have two in stainless synthetic - .30-06 and .338 Win.Mag. Great value in a hunting rifle. Extremely accurate after you spend $85. for Timney trigger (still less than Remington junk).

The only one I've had any experience with is the 22-250 12BVSS I've had for couple of months or so. I like the light trigger pull, but on mine the little safety lever lightly rubs the trigger and vibrates it enough to prematurely trip it unless it's kept greased. (Not oiled. That doesn't last long.) I've also had several inexplicable lockups of the trigger relieved by recocking the bolt.

Other than my trigger problems, the rifle shoots very well.

I'd get hold of Savage and let them have a look at the safety/trigger problem you're having. I've dealt with them once and they went out of their way to handle any request.

I have the 10fp. Thumbs up on the accutrigger. I will leave mine stock.

I got a FP 10LE specifically for the Accutrigger. I prefer two-stage triggers, and the safety flag on the Accutrigger gives a two-stage feeling on a single-stage trigger.

We all have to start somewhere with rifles and in general they are not expensive and easy to trade off. You only loose a couple of hundred bucks in the process and it's fun to see "what happens".

In the end however if you buy a Savage 110 series you will end up with a Savage! They are really a sloppy looking rifle. There are machine cuts all over them that look like a high school shop class made it.

The Accutrigger is not currently available in sporters and even if it were it's not compatable with wearing gloves or even cold weather hunting.

And all Savage 110's are not accurate. I dumped a new on in 270 WSM that had a dark bore, excessive pressure with factory loads, a stock that touched the barrel on the left side like most of them do with the injection molded stock and a bolt that operated like a barrel bolt on a barn.

I returned the rifle with a letter that was very specific on each concern. They did things that had nothing to do with the concerns and returned the rifle with nothing corrected.

This endevour cost me $515-$305 or $210 and was worth the education in a way.

Savage, just FYI, but my local friendly gun peddler charges me $340 for model 10 and 11 sporters, new.

As far as accuracy, fit and finish, the sporters and the varminter and tacticals seem finished to different standards. FWIW, Dutch.
