375 Whelen AI speeds...

If you have one, what sort of speeds do you have? What powder and bullet do you use?

Have you any load info with BLC2 powder? Thanks.

I have an artical from a Wolfe publication, in their Wildcat book, that has some info, but I'd be happy with more, esp with BLC2. Thanks. ~~~Suluuq

The new Barnes manual lists the .375 Scovill which is the 9.3 X 62mm necked up to .375. This is similar to the .375 Whelen AI with a shorter neck and a little more room for powder.

H4895 pushes a 250 grain bullet at 2700 with ease.

In shooting my 375 WhnAI the other day, I shot 270 Hornady SP 150 FPS faster then the load info I got from an artical, with one grain less then max. I used 57 grains of IMR 4895, 58 was max. No pressure signs. I repeated this with 56.5 grains, and had some speeds slightly less. Not all shots registered. I think my Shooting Chrony is having fits, after shooting off a few sky screen rods.
I'll re-check those loads, but after I get a new set of sky screens(I'm tempted to send in my SC, just to have it checked anyway). Going 150 FPS faster, with one grain less then max, does seem highly suspect, I'm sure. ~~~Suluuq
