Kimber 84/8400
Does anyone have any PERSONAL experience w/ Kimber rifles? Complaints? Praise? Especially, accuracy?

I am looking for new rifle and considering factory, semi-custom. It MUST be light. I see that Kimber makes theirs in WSM series, but I know nothing about them.

Beartrack,

Do a search here, on www.24hourcampfire.com and on www.huntamerica.com for comments.

I have two new Kimber 84M's. I have been to the Kimber factory. I would never have a custom rifle made when you can buy a Kimber that's almost perfect for $800 or so and get a new rifle warrantee.

After you read the archived posts PM me if you have any more questions.

most of the early 1's were rough and had feed problems, a friend had a current production 1 at the deer camp a few weeks ago and it has a smooth action and feed well, i could hit a paper plate at 100 yds off hand so it must have been fairly accurate or i had a lucky 3 shots..ps this 1 harually had wood about the equilivant of a bad m70 super grade not barn wood that's on most..

Beartrack,

Have you read any info on the WSM Model SS? I have been talking with a friend about one in 7MM WSM or 270 WSM for a mountain rifle. I had planned on building a custom 284 Win but can't build one for the price of the 84.

Has anyone seen one of these SS models and if so how was the synthetic stock?

I have a Kimber classic varmint 22LR and a M84 classic in 7-08. I absolutely love both of them. My M84 is a jewel. It will shoot .75 MOA with Hornady 139 Light Magnum and homemade 140 gr NBTs over RL19. Very light and well made. I am actually contemplating buying a second one and having it rebarreled to 358 winnie. They're worth a look. Lou

I called up Kimber in regards to the 8400 in 7mm WSM. It sounded like it is not currently in production and won't be available for a few months (I assume this means several months). My dealer recieved the same information from the Kimber rep. This is in spite of the beautiful pics at the rear of the magazines.

I have only shot one Kimber centerfire and it was in 280 Remington. It was a fairly attractive gun that did not shoot well.

The Winchester Mod 70 super grade (at least in 7WSM) is supposed to be available in June if the Customer service person was correct.

A buddy has a current Kimber in 7mm-08 and its a JEWEL. Shoots very well, finish and fit is first rate, all on an $800 rifle!
My only suggestion is "less can be more". Take a look at the 7mm-08 VS the Short Mag. His rifle is so soft shooting, and it still works well on deer sized game.
