.458 OnlyNeed Help with Penetration Information
Of those two Noslers, I'd choose neither!
When I had my .340, I choose the 250gr NP.
Reason? It made better sense to me as it left the muzzle at 3000 fps... a LOT more momentum and energy at any range!
Bob
www.bigbores.caInterestingly enough,
the .33 cal 250NP from .338/06 vs 340wm, penetrated about equal in WP media...[18.3"] identical to 35Whelen-250NP.
The extra speed and SD of the .340wm/250NP didn't seem to get it anywhere past the performance of 35Whelen250np.
Findings most helpful I guess to those who intend to hunt WetPack.

Max TraumaI would load up some x bullets and get a bunch of wet newsprint. take him to the range and make a bet with him. the larger the sum of money the better and then you can both shoot and see who is correct. The more expensive a lesson is to learn the better it will be retained.

Like modern bullets they don't have to be overly long and heavy for ideal performance.
