Kimber 8400 Montana in .338
Noticed that the Kimber 8400 Montana is newly available in .338 Win Mag; anyone with any experience shooting this caliber in a 6.25# rifle?? seems like a good rig, but it would have to kick like a f&^*ing mule....

I have the same rifle in the fulll length 300 Win Mag (not the WSM). Recoil is very tolerable due to the stock design. IMO the .338 may surprise you with how manageable it truly is. Mine wears a Leupy 3.5x10 in Talley LW rings. The only complaint so far is that the checkering is too "sharp", it abraids the thumb on my trigger hand, lol.

I have a Montana in 325 WSM. It is surprisingly comfortable to shoot. Several people have commented the same after shooting it. One even went straight to the local store and ordered one.
There will be a good bit of recoil there but the Kimber Stock design and excellent recoil pad will deliver it to your shoulder as it could be. It might surprise you. But if you are worried about it just get the 325 WSM instead, there's not much a 200gr TSX at 2950 won't kill cleanly..........................DJ

....Remember that this is all supposed to be for fun!..................
