Anyone who owns such a rifle, and can fill me in on the + and -..?
Wondering about a Safari Grade, with two barrels.. .375 H&H and .300 H&H..
It will be a good combination for African game, altough one might want something bigger for the biggest.
I guess I will only shoot one buffalo, maybe one elephant in my life.. The rest will be various PG.
Not only for Africa, but for varied hunting around the world.
Any comments appreciated.

Two barrels kits are about the limit,so dont think of any more, cause after that its very difficult to keep the rifle in spec with all three barrels on the same bolt,cause of the lapping process(Dakotas words not mine).
Thing I dont like about the Dakota traveller is the thin wall of metal that the scope bases screw into on the front receiver ring. Not saying theres a problem there, just that I dont like it much. An integral square bridge set up would be much stronger, especially for big cals. Thats the only thing that turned me off buying one. If I do buy a traveller one day, it would most likely only be in a one barrel-light cal. version,...(270win).

i've never looked much at one, but have a friend who has one in 300 dakota & loves it. traveling with a 2 piece rifle is much easier than with a 1 piece, but you can always take the bbled action out of the stock & put it back together again

I saw a real nice Dakota 76 take down combo at a Louisville, KY gunshow a few years back. .270 Win. and .35 Whelen. Color case hardened bases and rings as I recall. Nice but kinda pricey though.

I fell in love with the takedown concept for a while till I realized every gun can be a takedown. Kenny Jarret pillar beds a stock and tells you to reassemble using one finger to re-tighten floorplate screws. Crazy part is it works pretty well. An inexpensive torque wrench such as carried by Brownell is even better.
I have done this on a couple African trips and when the guns are checked for sight in only once did my gun change POI and it was about an inch.
Americase makes a very nice compact case for Jarret that they will be glad to sell you.

Thanks for the input! I need to go see one for myself.. Haven`t seen one except from pictures, so need to see how it handles..
One thing I like especially is the custom LOP without extra charge.. On the other..they`re pricey enough..
I`m a tall guy and likes the LOP around two inches more than normal.. That you don`t get on many factory rifles as far as a know..

Any input on the caliber choice? Should do pretty good as a "global hunting rifle set"..(?)..
