300 Dakota and 200 Gr Accubonds

Hi,

going elk hunting next week and have worked up some good loads with 200 Gr Accubonds. Tried Barnes but couldnt get them to shoot.
My question is has anyone taken elk with the 200 Accubonds??

I have shot gemsbok with 225 Accubonds out of a 338 RUM.........your 200 grainers will grass your elk, no problems.

thanks for the info. The accubond looks much like the ballistic tip and i wanted to verify its not going to come apart.

Its a bonded bullet made specifically for heavier game such as elk. It won't come apart. The tip just gives it better ballistics

I don't think you have a thing to worry about.

This is what a 165 Accubond out of a 300 RUM looked like after penetrating my Moose. The shot was only about 30 yards and muzzle Velocity was over 3500 fps.

With 200 grainers you should be in great shape. I'm really starting to like the Accubond.

LUX, that setup will be an absolute hammer on elk. A gunsmith friend of mine really loves that combo, and has taken several elk with it, at distances from 40ish yards to over 300. He stocked up on Accubonds simply because the performance was so superb in this rig.

I'm building one (300 Dakota) but intend on shooting 180 TTTSX's out of it, if not Accubonds!

That's the bullet I'm using in my .30-06 (well 180 grains instead) and I'm content that it's a "get-er-dun" bullet.

From what I've heard You have nothing to worry about. Those Accubonds are strong enought to kill animal.

I don't mean to change the subject, but does anyone have any real world experience with the scirocco on large game. It looks similar to the accubond, and it's actually a little less expensive.

Used the 200 gr Accubond in Sept. on a B.C. moose hunt in my 300 Weatherby. Worked great, even at 35 yards. Great combo.

well looks like the 200 Accubond is going to be bad medicine for elk. Now i will have confidence i wont have bullet failure . The Accubond looks like a winner .

Oh how I like those extended wings and ragged bullets that rip and tear those blood vessels and arterys unlike those smooth baby butted beautifully expanded Swifts that tend to slide over them...I have not used the Accubonds as yet, still a partition fan, but trust me I intend to remedy that situation..I like what I see here.
