.260 Rem question

.260 Rem question

I'm fairly new to reloading so I'm looking for some load info for the 260 Rem. I'm going to start with the Nosler 125gr partition. I'd like to be around 2850-2950fps. I shoot a Ruger M77. Any suggestions to get started?

The new Nosler manual has great 260 load info...get some H4831 powder and you'll be good to go...I'd suggest some Rem CLs to get going...then use the PTs for serious game loads...

44 grains of IMR 4350 will serve you well...

load data allows you to bump that up to like 45.5 grains for the velocity you desire..

my first powder of choice tho, is 4064, but it won't get your 125 grainer to where you want it velocity wise...

In the past 8 weeks, I've put just over 500 rounds through my new Rem 700 CDL SF Limited Edition 260 Rem w/ 24"barrel to find good loads. My sub moa 125 Partition loads were ...

44.2 gr H4350 for .55"
47.5 gr H4831sc for .810"

Nosler brass and Fed 210M primers. OAL is 2.820".

H-4831 has given me my best results with 125 partitions. Depending on what you have on hand for powders you should be able to find a pretty fast and accurate load in short order.

Hey FredJ338 have you tried H-1000 in your 260 ?

I've run H1000 with both the 125 and 140 Partition.

The jury is still out on the 125 but sub moa groups are a definate possibility @ somewhere between 50, 50.5 and 51 gr.

The 140 gr loves 50.5 gr for .69" groups @ 2850 fps or so.

Hey FredJ338 have you tried H-1000 in your 260 ?

Not yet. I am actually quite happy w/ H4350, H4831sc or IMR7828ssc for 120-142gr bullets. In my heavy bbl. just about any of the loads will break 1/2moa out to 300yds (as far as I have shot them yet).
