7.5 x 54 MAS continued
SmilerFire Lapped the MAS 36 last week and finished cleaning it this week. I was pleasantly shocked. This was my first fire lapping. It was done because
  • number one the rifle really shoot accurately.
  • number two it took forever to clean.

The inside of the barrel is an absolutely gorgious mirror finish. It took 45 cartridges. This coming month it will be fitted with it's side mounts , scope and have it's little handle bent. The barrel will than have 4" removed to give it a Manlicher appearance. Kind of a firearms circumcision.

If you waste your time a talkin' to the people who don't listen
To the things that you are sayin' who do you thinks gonna hear
And if you should die explainin' how the thing they complain about
Or the things they could be changing who do you thinks gonna care

You impregnate bullets with varying grit sizes of lapping compuond. In this case it was 5 ea. 220 gritt, 10 each 400 gritt, 10 each 800 gritt,7 each 1000 gritt and 13 ea. with 1200 gritt. Than you shoot them at about 2000fps. starting with the coursest gritt. Clean the barrel between gritt sizes. beerroger
