Bill Bellneed help with new 270wsm load
Hello all ! I am new here as well as to reloading in general. My question is, I shoot a sako 270wsm with a 24and 1/2 inch barrel, and I would like to reach about 3200 fps . The reason I would like to reach this speed, is if I used the zeiss calculator correctly, at that speed the burger 150 vdl should work perfectly with the rapidz 800. If I shoot any slower around lets say 3000fps the lines dont fall out correctly. SOO does anyone have any recomendations on this particular load. Also what does that speed do to accuracy, dont most guns generaly group better with milder loads? Also will the longer barrel give me a few more fps of muzzle velosity? Thanks For Your Help Bill

ldkierGetting a safe 3200 fps with any 150 gr. bullet is going to be difficult.
My pet load for the .270 WSM is:
150 gr. Woodleigh P.P.
Norma case
Federal 215M primer
67.0 gr. AA MagPro
3108 fps
You may want to look at the A.A. load data for MagPro and the 150 gr bullets as they list the max load of 70.0 gr. I went to 69.0 gr during my load work, but found it to be WAY, Way too hot for my rifle.
Good Luck

Curly-BudTry the magpro with standard primers I'm using cci's and you may be able to load more powder and maybe higher velocities and less pressures! I don't like running max loads for hunting as temperatures, rain, snow, dirt can cause problems! Good luck Curly

phurley5Bill Bell ----- I have achieved 3200 fps with one of my .270 WSM's using RL-19, RL-22 and Magpro. Magpro and RL-22 being the faster. All barrels have a personality all their own, my second rifle is a little slower than my first, both are Model 70 Winchesters. I use the Fed 210M primer exclusively. Good shooting.
