[URL= ]March 25[/URL] [URL= ]video target[/URL] I`ve also started practicing offhand at 100 and 200yds.I`d like to mention that I read something in Johyn Taylor`s book recently about the mechanics of shooting.He says not to think about the shot-"Don`t think about it". This I find is completely true.Taylor was discussing this when he writes about the time he was hired to shoot lions that were killing cattle and most of the shooting was done at night.Lions had to be shot in the head and he had to aim for what he could only see and that was the lion`s shining eyes.

Nice shooting. I too have been practicing with iron sights (peep sights) and it has reinvigorated my enjoyment of the sport. Even with 52-year old eyes I have been pleased with how consistently accurate I can shoot if I just focus on where I want the shot to hit. Shooting with open sights has also had a very positive effect on my accuracy with a scope. I have also come to realize just how much better a rifle handles without a scope.

I agree.For myself,all of the fun of going to africa is hunting with open sights just like the skilled, famous hunters of the past did.IMO,there is nothing like the feeling of hunting with a rifle and feeling very confident of your shot.
