Ckemp200gr accubond for elk?
I was planning on using my 270 win for a cow elk hunt this year(150 grain NP), but got a new scope for my 338 win and am thinking about using it instead. I have 50 200 grain accubonds loaded for the 338, but I saw that the SD for the 270 is a higher. Is the 200 grain accubond in 338 win sufficient for elk, or is it more of a deer bullet?

AtkinsonI use 210 gr. Noslers and 300 gr. Woodlieghs in my .338 Win depending on where I'm hunting..They have worked so well that I see no reason to change..However, I am sure the 200 gr.accubonds will work on cow elk..

HUNTSAccubonds are very good elk bullets.

dirklawyerI would opt for the partition or some Swifts in the 225 grain bullets.

buckoYou would have heck killing one any better with anything.
A 200 grain accubond in a 338 will absolutely flatten a cow elk.
A friend of mine shot a BIG bull in Colorado last year with a 180 grain AB in his 338 through the shoulder and it exited through the off ribs.
Believe me when I say that you will NOT be undergunned.

Rob1SGI used them last year in my 338-06. Flattened the 5x6 bull I shot with full penetration of the chest. I will use them again this year for my cow hunt.

Dr. LouI used the old 200 gr NBTs on a bull elk several years ago at about 200 yds and it work great. One shot, one kill. The Accubond is the same bullet but improved. I will be using the 260 grainer in my 375 H&H for elk, when I get home from paradise. I wish I could fit the 225 grainer in my 358 Win.

fredj338If you are going to use a light 200-210gr bullet, the NAB is a good one. I've had such great performance from the 210grNP I haven't wanted to switch.
