I recently bought a 1908 Brazilian in 7x57. It had been sporterized by one of the previous owners.
At first the groups were more like patterns. I fooled with the bedding, nothing. Floated the barrel, nothing. It would tease me by occasionally putting two bullets an inch or so apart then throw one over 4 or 5". I started to think that maybe it was time for a new barrel. As a last resort I cut a 1/4" off the muzzle and much to my surprise the next 3 could be covered with a nickle,2 of them were touching. This was with WW 145gr. factory loads. I can't wait to try some handloads in it. I felt well rewarded for my efforts.

Good work. This is what I also enjoy about guns. When we get something going the feeling of accomplishment and independence is what it's all about.
