Hornady 170gn FN Bullet performance
Hi~

I have heard good things about this bullet when loaded in .30-30 .307 and .308 excellant penetration and expand very well on light game.

I have been recommended to try it in my .308 bolt action loaded to approx 2300-2400 f.p.s on our small Roe deer 50 lbs. As well as our larger deer.

Any of you used this bullet on light deer ? How did it perform for you ??

I used that bullet on a couple of Washington state blacktails. I pushed it to 2700 fps out of my 30-06 and found it to be a sudden killer and a little destructive at ranges less than 50 yards. Probably be just right at around 2400 fps.

A friend loads that bullet in his .308 carbine, he uses a mild load for 2300 to 2400fps, it works great on deer at close range.
