I'm actually a big fan of my 22/250 for what you mentioned but the cheap and available ammo for the .223 is what caused me to vote that way!
If I were suggesting for someone other than me the choices would go .223, 22/250, .243 in that order. For me I own all 3 but the 22/250 is a favorite for sure.

The .223 has so totally eclipsed the others with raw performance and economy that it's an easy decision.

Forthose that have seen it shooting against the .22-250 on Prairie dogs they're the most impressed of all.......it stands toe to toe with the faster cartridge.

The poll results are truly justified.

Well guys, I ended up going 22-250.

I know the majority went w/ the 223 vote but, I was able to get the 22-250 for around 100 bucks cheaper in the model I bought. I found a shop that had a 22-250 for the right price.

I went w/ a Remington XR100 Rangemaster w/ the pepper Lam stock that has the vented beaver tail fore arm. I roll my own so, I don't think cost will be too much of a bother and if I want to bring her down to 223 speeds it wont be a problem.

Looks like a bedding job is going to be on short order as well as some Leupie Rings and Base.

Thanks for the suggestions fellas.

How about "None of the Above!" -- a .308 would be my choice. I do not even own a rifle under 30 cal!! Nor do I have a want to do so!

It has taken me 25 years to warm up to the 223, and msot of my liking centers around the fast twist/heavy bullet options now available. I still like and use the bigger 22-250 tho...
