Knwh51338/06 AI Where should I start
I have a 338/06 AI with a 1 in 10 twist barrell. What powder and bullet combination should work best? I'm new to wildcating so any help would be appreciated.

z1rI've found most bullets in .338 shoot rather well. Pick the weight you think'll be most useful. Re15 works well in my .338-06, you might start there.

triggerWith my 338 Hawk I have the best luck with RL 15 and H 414 with the 200 - 225 grain bullets. IMR 4064 also worked.

seafire2The highest velocity, most accurate load... that elusive combination of attributes, I found was satisfied using H 380....
I use a lot of IMR 4064 and IMR 4895.. Varget also gets honorable mention as does W 748...
A 250 grainer with H 380 will give me 2650 fps, in a non AI'ed version of the 338/06... the AI should technically do a little better...
I also use regular large rifle primers, not the Magnum ones everyone always recommends...I got better accuracy with the large rifle primers...so I use those... charge is 60 grains of H 380 with the 250 grainer.. so work up, but it should be safe in an AI chamber...a local friend runs 65 grains of H 380 in his 338/06 AI with the 250 grain bullet..He prefers Sierra's.. I prefer Hornady..
