rem 7600 35 whelen pad
I'm dusting off my 35 whelen 7600. Its been in the safe far to long. The length of pull is too short and it has a hard plastic recoil pad. Figured I would kill 2 birds with one stone and put on a new recoil pad. Any idea what fits? Where to get one and any part # would be great. I checked all the usual spots but am having a hard time finding one. The stock is factory wood. Thanks.

Get a pachmayr decelarator & have a gunsmith fit it to the 760.

+1 to the decelerator pad! Makes a work of difference on my 300 and 338 RUM's. Worth every penny.

I got one of the original 7600's offered in .35 Whelen over twenty years ago and that was the first thing I did. I've never had reason to regret that decision.

I didnt know if there was a fitted pad offered or if I had to give it to the gunsmith.

Some makers have pads that are pre-fit,you just have to look at the packages to see if the one that fits the 700 might work,or get a gunsmith to fit it for you.

All the fitted pads that fit the 7600 say synthetic stock. Must be a difference between that and the wood.

I am pretty sure you need to use a Grind to fit Limbsaver if you are going to use one.

The factory wood stock on my 7600 35 Whelen was slightly "scooped", (also called a shotgun type stock; same as the Mini 14's and others). My 'smith simply cut off a small slice of the factory stock so that it was "straight" and ground the PD to fit. Works well.
