For big stuff I like Lawton.

Single point rifle cut like Krieger, without the 6 month to a year wait. For the budget minded, they also make a button rifled barrels. They do alot of work with the larger caliber barrels, and have a whole catagory called their "Lost River" bore sizes. Great guys, great service, and they usually have a decent inventory as well.

The 2 Shilens I have are very accurate and rarely need cleaning. The 06--that they fitted for me--- shoots many bullets to the same spot. The 2 rifles I'm building as we speak both have Shilen barrels---picked by the smiths.
The 2 Pac-Nors I have are both very accurate. I picked one, the smith picked the other.

I have no comparison to make but I have been very pleased with my Douglas barrels.

For the record.....I've never seen a valid comparison between the barrel MFRs...it's all a matter of opinion....what ever trips your trigger!

Right now I like Shilen....yesterday it was Douglas....why did I change....Shilen now costs less!

Only 338+ barrel I've had done - Was an 8mm rebarrealed to 9,3x62 Mauser using a Shilen barrel. Shoots good!

I've used about 10 or 15 Douglas premium bbls., and all have been good. I've also used Heart, Shilen and a few others. I haven't had a bad bbl. yet.

My 338RUM is a Brux. I also have a Douglas XX, Shilen, Hart and Pac-Nor.

Like has been said, they are all good and they all shoot good. More important is the gunsmithing and the action/rifle itself.

That being said I am most impressed with the Pac-Nor 3 groove in 375 that is my latest barrel. It had no break in. By that I mean that cleaning after every shot for the first few shots didn't last long as the patches were coming out clean after the 3rd patch and it does not foul other than powder residue. It is a fast barrel and the lead time was acceptable.

If I get another barrel it will be another Pac-Nor 3 groove or one of the ratcheted rifling or canted rifling barrels, just to try them out.
