7X57r barrel info
Ok, I am building a single shot break action in this caliber. I am ready for the barrel and need some input in regards to length and twist rate. I plan to shoot 140- 150 grain bullets with factory pressure levels. Would a 26" barrel be about right?

I would also like to use an octagon barrel. The only company I can find that supplies them in the taper I want ( straight tapered octagon) is Montana Rifleman. Anyone have an opinion on them?

Your should use a 1x9 twist or perhaps a 1x9.5..

Lothar Walther will make you a better barrel but it won't be cheap..They are the best barrels that I have ever used.

I tried a couple of Montana Rifleman barrels and they didn't impress me much, however I know some folks that seem to like them.
