smack me, someone
Tonight I did one of those ran to the store came back with a rifle things. You know how it happens. Anyway, it wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't one of those damn ugly SKS's. I know, Iknow, what was I thinking? Yes, it was dirt cheap but somebody please give me a smack in the head to smarten me up sofa

Hope you stopped by the jewelry store on the way home to pick your woman something up as well! Let me know if you need a place to stay.

I think that if you didn't have to pay too much, and you like to shoot ugly guns and ammo is cheap ya did the right thing. If you have an understanding wife, you should have brought two of them!

An SKS? You deserve more than just a smack. Razzer

Hell, if you're gonna impulse buy, make it something decent. Big Grin

My last two were a minty early '70s vintage Savage 99A in .308 and an NRA fine condition, cut down Krag 1898 NRA carbine in .30-40, of course. thumb

I've done the same and you know what, I never regreted it.

They are fun if you accept them for what they are.

How much did you pay for it?
An SKS is a well made rugged gun, especially if the price is right.

175 Canadian. Never fired, still has that gross packing grease all over it. My oldest son (7) sure got a kick out of it though, we all call it the ugly rifle.

Get some good soft points for it. I have killed 2 deer with the "30 Russian Short", worked fine.
My SKS shot @ 2.5" at 100 yards.

Got too many good rifles to use so I doubt this one will get hunted with. With that child sized stock they have my sister-in -law might borrow it but I imagine it will be a range gun to have fun with. It would make the perfect truck gun though, if we could carry a .30 cal. off season. Maybe if we ever get hogs in my neck of the woods I'll use it when chasing dogs for those ten foot shots and if I get charged there is always the bayonet 'eh.

Man, I can't help it, this gun is ugly.

I'd say you got a good buy. We used an SKS to kill deer on several occasions. Anytime you can use a 30-30, you can use the SKS, IMHO. Plus, it's a hoot to shoot a centerfire that cheap!
