Savage 99 weight
This is a boring question, but can any of you Savage 99 folks give me a feel for the weights of these rifles? There seems to be quite a broad range from the graceful early models to the blocky ones of the later years. Ever put one on the scales? Your input is appreciated.

The famous old 99EG weighs 8 to 8.5 lbs depending on the wood....

The 99F weighs 6.5 to 7 lbs depending on the wood.

Most 99's fall in that catagory going all the way back...

A 99F in .358 Win with a 4X Lyman All American and Weaver mounts weighs 7lb 14 oz.

A pre-64 M-70F in .358 Win with a 4X Bear Cub and Behuler two piece mounts weighs 7lb 14 oz.

The rifles come up the same and feel light. To me a rifle with a heavier barrel feels heavy and hard to swing. The Savage with it's thin profle and flat action and stock is much easier to carry for me but others prefer the round feel of the M-70 type stock.

I have no idea what my M99EG weighs. It is very well balanced and feels lighter than it is. Much better balance then my scoped M700
