crbutlerSo what does the R8 ultimate have that your current plumbers nightmare doesn’t?

Adjustable comb
Different stock
Recoil management
And with a blaser all I need is the stock - nothing else. Everything else moves over.
I know the haters will hate. But the r8 is the pinnacle of the modern rifle. And blaser manages small marginal improvements to a near perfect system.

Palladin8I held them at SHOT SHOW this year and have to say i'm not a fan of the leather but other than that I thought they were pretty nice.

You held the regular leather blaser success. The ultimate was just released in Europe.
The leather is very durable.

crbutlerI guess we will have to agree to disagree.
If I can't handle the recoil, I get a lesser caliber. Since I've managed with .500 on down, I guess I don't need that...whatever you want to call it.
If the stock doesn't fit, I get one that does.
The blaser is a good what it is- an overengineered solution to a problem that was solved over 100 years ago.
As to its interchangeability I'd say that is vastly overrated. Are you going to change from a .308 for a kudu to a .416 for the charging elephant cow in the field?
I think in Europe you need to register each barrel set and get permission for it, so no gain there either.
Plus that stock is plain ugly, looks like the new benelli ones for their shotguns.
I'd rather be a Luddite than get caught with one of those things!

A regular american rifle are just as good if you just send it to a smith true the action, change barrel, stock and trigger

BiebsThe leather on the Blasers is surprisingly durable. I took mine on a tent hunt in Alaska where it was rained on, snowed on, sleeted on, frozen, etc. It came back looking like it was still new. It must be impregnated with silicone or some other chemical.

Blaser has their own line of optics now. That appears to be the 2.8-20x50

Ah, Thank you. My bet, given the IC designation is that they are sourced from Zeiss.
Regardless, I have no doubt they are absolutely top notch optics.

The problem this over engineered bit of kit is resolving is not really the one of 100 years ago but the current elephant in the room of European hunting - having the same gun set up for driven boar in company and then switching it out and changing erogomics to fit a suppressed barrel and thermal or NV scope which sits three inches above the bore and as bugger all eye relief.
I’m well aware Steyr has a push button pop up cheek piece back in ~1910 for those wanting to stalk with irons and then hook in the claw mounted 6x42 when on the seat. The pop up cheek wasn’t the end solution, reliable variable optics and combs designed to use them was.
Of course the US solution is buy an AR with an adjustable stock and set that up specifically for zero light culling work and keep a separate blued steel and show piece in the safe for showing off in daylight

And I do have to say I find the Ultimate stock ugly as sin and I’m a heathen who’s concept of the ideal firearm is a D99 in a Novak (synthetic) stock. The carbon thumbhole stock they are now offering on the Blaser K95 single shot is even more of an abomination. The old ReichsJagermeister is probably spinning in his grossly oversized coffin

What the actual F&*$? is that thing?
Why the leather?
Why the, whatever that is with the thumbhole thingy?
Really, just WHY??

Good Lord! They just get uglier and uglier.
I know they say beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Mike, and a couple of others, really need to visit their optometrist. ASAP.

Jr SteinerHappiness is one hole regardless of what made it. The most accurate Rifle I ever had was a 6mm in a 700 Varmint cut to 18". That rifle would shoot one hole at 100 or 200 yards all day. The only limiting factor on the rifle was me and my skill level.
Blasers will have to prove themselves in the trench. I have shot and owned any number of firearms and one thing I have always insisted on was accuracy, if not it had to hunt a new home regardless of how pretty it was.

6.5 cm - 130 yards
30/06 - 130 yards
6.5 cm 330 yards
30/06 - 130 yards
This will be the accuracy of my new rifle as the barrels and scopes will
Seamlessly transition over

EMP3If I liked it & needed it, I'd buy it.
If it's manufactured in Germany, it's of supreme quality.
Americans make excellent rifles, but many American rifle companies import their stock from foreign manufacturers.

sambarman338Notwithstanding that it may be the greatest advance since the Poly-choke set on infinity, how do you get your thumb up to 'cock' it?
05 February 2019, 11:38
GBEYou only have to cock it once and then it’s good to go until you uncock it, no matter how many times you refill the magazine.
For animals that appear and disappear just as quick the thumb hole models defeat the purpose as you’re better served staying cocked the whole time - probably not a problem on the stand waiting for driven game

jens poulsenThe silenced model is interesting.
Too bad they don`t make it in their own .45Blaser.
Love to have on in .45cal Blaser with 41cm barrel.

RidgemanFunny that the Blaser haters have typically never used one. Nothing needs proving. A great platform well tested in the field worldwide. Best advice for the haters - don’t buy one.
