<brewtcl>Which 140 gr Barnes for 7mm mag?
I am trying something different this ummer for a new reloading project. I am going to try a 140 gr. barnes x-bullet in my 7mm rem. mag. Which one should I go with, the regualr, the coated, or the new triple shock? Any advice and comments on performance is welcome. I'll likely use IMR 7828, since it has done well with 139 gr. hornadys. Thanks.

Ken ClineTriple shock- Best accuracy
XLC coated- Highest velocity potential, least fouling of the 3
Regular X bullet- Lowest price, but most fouling of the 3.
Performance on game would be nearly identical with all of them. You can't go wrong with any.

DesertRamI only have experience with XLCs and will heartily recommend giving them a try.

<Doc_Halladay>I would be really interested to hear about your results with your 140 7mm. I have been toying with the idea of using the 140 in my new Tikka T3 for elk this fall. I have been reading in other forums that people are going to lighter bullets in the Triple Shock's and when I asked Ty Herring at Barnes he also confirmed that I would get better bullet performance with the lighter bullet (140gr vs. 160gr). I will be working on loads when my bullets get shipped to me.

todbartellThe TSX sounds like the best of the three. I'm not a fan of the blue coating, it reduces pressures alot, and messes up my load work ups. I get a little nervous going over the MAX loads
that much for regular X's, just to get equal speeds. I do like the accuracy of the XLC though....

the444shooterTSX or XLC hands down...both have greater accuracy and velocity potential over the standard X bullet. I choose the XLC's just because of the boost in velocity, but wouldn't hesitate to use the TSX. Ty is a great help at Barnes, and is always very prompt at answering emails.
