Battle RiverHappy Birthday 30-06 w/pics of rifle/trophy
I took the liberty of using an o6 for the past two weeks of deer season for several reasons
--I had not shot an animal with the 06 in 6 yearrs, the last one being a calf moose with my Kimber89
--I had never taken an animal with my Heym SR20 in 30-06, even though it is the most accurate rifle in my safe
--- Hey its the 100th anniversery of the 30-06 and another story to tack onto a hunting season memory!
After passing on 45 bucks this season I found this deer on some cropland my family farm,s and took him at 120 yards
Load is 165 gr Hornady SST 61.5 gr RL 22
Retained weight 110 gr shot was on point of shoulder angled through hungs and liver. Lots of tissue damage and great bullet performance IMHO

FjoldThat's certainly a big bodied deer, it would make three of ours. Congratulations.

Battle RiverFYI he grosses 164 nets 158 B&C. and was missed by at least two other hunters this year. The rut did him in as he was really trailing a doe hard when I spotted him, VERY heavy deer and was barely able to lift him into the truck. Estimated at 260lbs live
