I can't figure out Kimber. They put a 26in. tube on the 300 Win. Mag. instead of 24in. and they don't offer the long action in 280. I would love to have a Montana in 300WM with a 24 in. bbl. and a Classic in 280. Oh well.

I hope the reason is that they are too busy finishing the 7mm Rem. mag Montana I am waiting to see.

Off the "stainless" thing, but what kind of group size are you guys getting with the Kimber 300WSM. Just got a new one and shot five different factory loads and the best was 1.75 inches at 100 yds. Really thought it should be better than this? The Stainles version would be great, but wonder if Kimber is stretched to their limits trying keeping up with the things they already have going? Its not hard to make a 26 inch tube into a 24 inch, My smith would charge you 50.00 with a crown.
larry I would not except 1.75 with your kimber. i bet they would fix it free.
In a rifle that costs around 1000.00 I would not settle for less than MOA.

Yeah Cobrad,
I'd be on the phone daily with Kimber for a Montana in 7mm Mag. if I didn't already have a Brown Precision in that caliber. They have avoided building guns in that caliber too. I still might get a 300 WM and hack the barrel to 24 inches. Wonder if you could special order one from Kimber. Probably cost an arm and a leg.

Larry, good grief man, I really don't think five shot groups are a fair test of a pencil barrel. This is, after all, a hunting rifle not a bench rifle. I get 1/2" - 1" three shot groups with mine easily (180's / H4350).

Brad - I realize 30 rounds (10, 3 shot groups, 2 groups of each of the five selections) does not dictate what the gun is capable of but thought it interesting that nothing grouped tighter than it did. It sounds like you thought I shot 5, 5 shot groups?? The accuracy you speak of seems more acceptable.

Kimber does NOT stand behind any center fire rifle for accuracy I have allready went through this with them many times and was told by Dennis the quality control cust. service boss the do not target test fire any guns except rimfire. They did work on my rifle 3 times includeing throwing away my wood and repalcing it with a new stock. Crowning the barrel ect. then sending me a DO NOT SEND BACK letter from Dennis.
