Deltahunter,

Welcome to the pre-64 M70 club. These are fine rifles and your doing the best thing by planning to use it. That's what they were made for.

The first one that I got was a 1957 model and the fit was good but not perfect. I still have that rifle now. It's been rebarreled but still has the orginal stock.

I use it just like you plan to.

Good luck.

As a side note I gave an old M94 to a relative. It had been in my late dad's collection. We had never used it but it was a nice piece of workmanship. The young man that got it told me that he did not like it all that much. He wanted a gun that he could throw down on the ground and leave it there if he felt like.

I expect that your Winchester is in good hands now.

Hotcore, you're only showcasing your own ignorance, lack of taste, and judgement, so why don't you quit while you can still salvage some dignity out of all of this?
