Ruger Express in 30 06
Does anyone out there have any idea where I could locate a Ruger " Express" in 30 06 or 300 WM. I would like to pair one of these up with my RSM in .375. With these two in my battery I would feel i could hunt anything, anytime.

Davidson's/Gallery of Guns (30-06's) on the web has a good supply. There is one on Auction Arms(30-06) now and a few listed on GunsAmerica (300 Mag, 270, 30-06).

I saw some for sale at CDNN a while ago. Maybe they were all 270's.

I have one in 270 and it's started to group after some tweaking. Thats a heavy gun however but pretty. The one I have is not CRF.

If they would make one in a .35 Whelen with a 1/12" (or at least a 1/14") twist, I would jump for joy!!! jumping

There was one on Gunbroker and Auction Arms, both in the $900-$1000 range NIB.

I paid $950 plus tax for mine in used condition at a dealer. When I saw the wood I wanted the rifle and thats that! No common sense to it but thats the fun of guns.

At first this 270 would misfire but it was just the firing pin being made too short and I turned the shoulder back on the pin and it's just right now. After some easy tweaking of the bedding it has shot some really nice groups as of late. I did a quick job on the trigger with a lighter spring and it's pretty good enough for what the gun is. The trigger still has backlash but it's not a target gun.

Don't think that I will hunt with it due to its weight. I thought of a rebore but the muzzle diameter is only .560" if my memory is any good today.

Real nice wood on that one, Sav. Any idea of it's actual weight? Am only curious.

8.75 lbs with a 2-7 Leu. Some other things are that the express bridge get in the way of a 40mm objective unless high rings are used and mine is not crf.

I would call CDNN and see if they have one as their prices were much better than Davidsons in the past. Ask for a select stock as that what its about.

Maineguide, what scopes do you have mounted on your rifles? Did you have to replace the front bead on your RSM? Is the Express bead as small?

Rick,

I like to shoot open sights when possible but I have both guns set up for Vari X III's 1.5X5's. I'm ordering the NE arms ivory bead set up. The brass front sight is too hard to see at times.
