just like it states--CZ in a safari mag action in a 300 winnie--this is a discontinued model for a few yrs--gun is in pretty good condition(probably better than this)--anyway I'd like to hunt with it, but I'd like to lighten it up some for my backpack hunting---

So since it's a discontinued model in pretty good condition do I leave it a safe queen?

re-stock and re-barrel it??(can always return it to original state)

re-stock, re-barrel, add 3 pos safety, new trigger and fill the bolt(AHR pkg)???

just curious what you guys would do with this rifle if it was yours.

I have 2 other 300 winnies--one an AV sako(needs some work though as the floor button got lost and I had an issue getting a live round out of the the pipe--not sure why---and the other is a savage 3-4 yrs old--hunted with once--kind of my loaner rifle----

I had ZKK602 in this caliber. A 9.5lb .300WinMag quickly looses it's charm.

I'd probably make it into something else ... .416 Taylor maybe.

I have one of those CZ 550 Magnum Safari's in 300 Win Mag. I bought it because it had unusual walnut, a well-figured-blonde Euro Lux. She was purty under that shellac makeup. She has the single tang cross bolt, like a sexy piercing , not like the more recent Feral Hogback kind of girl.

The pad on her buttstock was soon changed from ugly ventilated rubber to a Pachmayr Sporting Clays Decelerator. Good recoil hygiene now.

She got two more piercings, fore and aft of the magazine box and crossbolts number 2 and three installed. Sexier than ever.

She wants plastic surgey now, a chemical peel and a professional oil massage to improve her complection. Then she wants liposuction on her backside to reshape her angular butt cheek-piece. I love the curve of her comb, and beg to leave that as it is. Feels so good when I put my face on her butt. Sigh ...

She was only so-so accurate with the factory barrel, but awaits rebarreling to 300 Lapua Mag. I have a 28"-long McGowen Precision No.3 sporter, stainless 1:10". Yes, she will still be about 9.5 pounds naked, but I like full-figured blondes.

Sometimes a rechamber is possible on a CZ 300 WinMag barrel on a 550 Magnum action, if your gunsmith is good with wimmin and your test target is good:

300 RUM
30-378Wby
300 Lapua Mag

Or rebarrel to .338 Lapua Mag. (I've done that) or bigger (I've done that too).

It does seem silly to waste a 550 Magnum on the lesser cartridges, and CZ does do the 300WinMag in the CZ 550 Medium.
