Thomas JonesGot my .270 and it aint a CZ.
After all my wheel spinning I went out shoping around town, and when I saw it I knew it was the one, I looked at sakos, a couple JC higgins 30,06s on FN actions that were dirt cheap , and I still might get one of those.
who knows, But I found an FN supreeme in .270 with a Bulvar scope in the old Baush & lomb mounts with the adjustments in the bases and the rings on the little spring loaded rod,
the scope is I think a 2.5 X 8 What do you think E-Bay will fetch me for that set up.
Its in about 95% condition and I paid 625.00
I will try it out with the old scope set up, but it will be whereing a more modern glass as soon as I decide witch one to get.
Thinking os a signiture select 3X10 or mabye a VX2 3X9 But I gott think on it for awhile, I will take a picture in a minite and be glad to send you one in an E-mail but I don't know how to put a pic on this site.. The serial # is 22XXX any body have a birth day for mu new baby ? ...tj3006

308SakoThomas congratulations on the new friend. I think you may want to acquire one of those JC Higgins for so little money. One day you might want to play with a beater like that...

Try it with the Balvar. I've got one of those Balvars on a rem 721 in 270 and it works pretty darn good.

SDhunterNot a bad choice, I just picked up a JC in 30-06, and a western field (Heym) in 270. I haven't been able to play with them much, but it is a pretty good feeling having them in the safe and working the old classic mauser action rifles.
You ever decide you don't like the your new purchase send me PM with price and mailing address.

loftermy hunting pardner has a custom 308 norma he built in 1965 with the exact scope and mount setup you have. He's killed a pile of bucks with it and I measured a 3 shot group for him up at the range before opening day. .373 inch.
I guess I won't be talking him into "better optics" for that gun.

Anything worth doing is worth doing right the first time.

308SakoVapodog, I know that, just kidding Thomas and wishing I had never parted with a .270 I had in college too many years ago.

Thomas JonesI took it to the range today, and its a sweet shooter. 1st 5 factory Winchester 130 gr power points hit 1.30 and I think I pulled 1 a bit. Bet 3 shot group was .55. wors was 1.50 and there was a stiff wind.
I took the mount set up after I got done and there is no hole in the rear except the ones on the side for a peep. By the way found a date stamp 1952. Think I will ebay the classic scope and mounts , they are in very good shape.
I will use a leupold base probably a 1 PC only need to drill and tap 1 hole for the 1pc , and if I go 2 It will need 2 holes.
Mabye a 2.5X8 VX3, gloss to match the rifle. Can't wate to try some handloads...tj3006

Wizard78Good luck with your find. With hand loads, you'll tighten that that group up nicely.

butchlocthe mounts are worth more than the scope, but i think you'll be hard presser to find a better combination. you might want to post an add in gunlist rather than ebay
