Their traditional BAR still outsells the other ones by a fair margin but the new choices give us more to choose from. I have the new Lightweight Stalker in 30-06 and I really like it. In response to Mark's question, they sell far more A-bolts but they do go through a lot of BAR's.

I remember seeing some ads in magazines about the BAR Safari model. Talk about a snafu from the Browning marketing types. In most countries in southern Africa, semi-automatic rifles are not legal for sport hunting and can not be brought into most countries there. Some examples: South Africa, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Namibia. I just thought it was silly naming a variant of the BAR the Safari Model.

Just my ramblings.....

I thought Browning simply used "Safari" as kind of a generic marketing term, along the lines of "Deluxe" or "Limited." There were Browning Safari bolt rifles, as well, at one time (pre-A-Bolt). I never thought that they were implying any one weapon was intended for safari use.

Well maybe. But why call something a Safari model if the intent is not to have a connotation of a safari? I just thought it was kind of funny. (I'm not trying to start a big argument over this.) Looking at the Browning web site I see that most (I didn't check all) of the Safari models no longer come with iron sights. I remember seeing magazine ads where the Safari model was shown with iron sights.
