We all like to brag up some of our well-performing rifles and loads, so here is a picture of a group I shot last week with a pre 64 300H&H - all stock except stock finish- B&L 4000 mounted in Weaver GS mounts, Leupy QRW rings. Load is a 200 NP ahead of 65 grains of H4350, CCI 34 primer (had no standard mag igniters in the ammo can...).

An earlier shot killed a nice MO buck back in mid NOV.

Shot 26 DEC, 10-15 MPH right to left, group is as follows: from 9:00, 1st shot, cold clean bore, next three touching, last one called right, 1.1 wide by .54 tall.

I bought one last year and have not done much with it but yours now......shooting pretty good groups!

If it will do that every time you should have sold something else

I kept the one I took 90 head of African plains game with. It may not be as accurate on paper, but it really does well on hair.

I've owned a number of pre 64 300 H&H's, and about 60 years ago I found one that shot 1/2 inch every time, shot most all loads to the same POI, regardless of bullet weight so I kept it eventually custom stocked it in my youth with perhaps my first stocking job??..

Today its almost without blue, my stock looks pretty rough with lots of dings, gouges, and one fellow referred to it as exhibition drift wood in pre 64 stainless steel!!! ..it still shoots as good as ever and probably has had 2000 to 3000 rounds through it ( a guess I guess) I wouldn't part with it..I have shot rock chucks,Jack Rabbits, duiker etc. and coyotes on the small side and a wounded Lion, nemourous buffalo and a grouchy Hippo with it on the top side. Mostly I have used it on plainsgame, deer, bear, and elk. Its best with H4831 and I like the 200 and 220 gr. Nosler partitions or the Woodleighs..

Its a great old caliber and handloaded properly will get right up behind the 300 WBY and best most of the modern the short magnums somewhat because it has a long neck and the heavy 200 and 220 gr. bullets don't get into the powder space as they do in the short magnums..It is a misunderstood caliber and a lot of folks that comment on it that have never loaded for it or even shot it, mostly they repeat what so and so said...It has one downfall and that is brass lengthens due to its body taper and trimming is often required, but its a nice trade off for a fine old caliber and a great old Winchester.

I love my old P64 300 H&H. It is my go to rifle more and more these days. The young kids get a kick out of that long tapered case.
It's just a couple years younger than I and appears to be holding up better.

My old pre-war will put a nosler part a woodleigh and a horn interlock all 180 gr into the same 1 inch group.
