Rem. has another new rifle!
While at Gander MT. I asked if they had any new rifles in stock, well Don says, yeah, we got a thumbhole in, it's a model '7' SS, 20" bbl, although that could be a misprint, since the model 7 short mags have a 22" bbl, with a pretty laminated thumbhole stock, chambered for the 300RSAUM, very nice stock, comfortable, with a pressure point about 4" from the tip, the barrel seems to have the same contour as the normal model 7s in the short Rem. mags, price was $724. Now if they could just build a rifle someone would want.

I just thought somebody out there might like Laminated thumbhole stocks on their 300RSAUM model '7', I guess not, I told Remington, I don't think this model will sell that good, maybe put it in a 700 action and lengthen the barrel a bit, Is that a more interesting rifle guys, It's a pretty rifle, If that's any consolation, Jay

Don't let these ani-Remington guys get to ya Jay, I'd like to see a pic of one of these Model Seven thumbhole SAUM's. [Big Grin] I'd buy one, heck, I'd buy two! [Cool]

Check out GunsAmerica in the Remington Rifle section....search "Laminated" and it will pop up.

Hello Todbartell,

I'm one of those guys who takes frequent digs at Remington. I also own many more Remingtons than other models and considered myself a big fan for many years. I'm not sure about that now. I'm weary of them dropping products so quickly like their 5mm Rem. They advertised it as the greatest thing since sliced bread, but it was gone in three years along with the manufacture of its ammo. I'm weary of them dropping items like the Rem. 20X and 24X riflescopes which were as good as any made at the time, and I've never forgiven them for discontinuing the .224 52gr. HPBR bullet which everyone agreed was a winner. This was before there were many premium bullets on the market, and there was a real need for these bullets. Remington destroyed the bullet making dies and took the tax write off instead of selling them to a benchrest quipment maker who wanted them in order to maintain the supply to serious competitive shooters. I even tolerate the 8lb. trigger pulls on their new rifles, and pay a gunsmith to correct it, but my patience is wearing just a wee bit thin along about now. Best wishes.

Remington is still selling rifles? That's too bad.

Isn't it illegal to manufacture "zip guns?"

I've built potato guns that were more reliable than the garbage Remington "manufactures".
