Unless you just enjoy spending a lot of time cleaning your rifles use Wipeout.

Questions for WipeOut users:

1. Have you bore scope�e your barrel before and after using WO?

2. How aggressively are your patching out/neutralizing the solvent after using it?

3. Have you found residue in your bore several days after using the product?

4. Have you pushed a patch with Sweets through the bore several days after using WO?

1) No. Who cares. As long as she shoots straight!
2) Three patches. Followed by a patch lightly oiled with Tetra-Gun. Same as any other solvent.
3) Yes. That's when I switched to three patches, plus a chamber mop. Most residue was in the chamber.
4) No. Have used CR10, though. Results were better with Wipe-out than with Butches (which I like a lot). Personally, I don't think there is a benefit to getting ALL the copper out. I'm just worried about the copper that decreases accuracy. FWIW, Dutch.

I am a believer in Montana Extreme, Remclean, Kroil... and Ballistol. Remclean, IMHO, is easier to use than JB or Iosso, and just as effective. Montana Extreme seems faster to me than Sweets and CR10. Kroil and Ballistol do seem to loosen the stuff up for easier cleaning and as an "apres range", do a good job of rust prevention. Ballistol is pretty good at almost everything, OK bore solvent, excellent lubricant, excellent rust preventative and it won't hurt your stock or the bedding.
I still use Sweets, JB, Iosso, Hoppes, Benchrest, Butches, Shooters Choice, BreakFree, etc., etc., mostly because I have it on hand and they all work fine. My theory is that different solvents seem to work better on different fouling combinations, including perhaps the bore steel and its condition. In other words, there is no one right solvent for all guns and all loads. Finally, as has been mentioned but can not be over emphasized, TECHNIQUE is at least as important as the solvents and equipment. Like the pre- HMO doctors used to say, "First, do no harm."

Gig 'Em!

I cleaned my 2506 today after firing 18 rounds with hopps 9. I cleaned until it was clean as it was going to get and then decided to clean again with that new bottle of CR10. I couldnt believe how dirty it was still. I gave up trying to get a patch with no blue on it after about 25 minutes of going thru all the steps. I used about a 1/8 of the small bottle that cost me 6.50$. I wasnt shootin Barnes X niether.
