Actual weight of Colt Light rifle
Does anyone know the actual weight of one of these? I see them for sale time to time and was wondering what they really weighed.
Thanks
Dave

I never actually weighed mine but it says 6.5 lbs in the literature. I bought a new drop-in stock from Mel Forbes that took almost a full pound off of that. Changed it from an "OK" rifle to my favorite go-to gun for serious hunting. Mel gets $450 for the stock which ain't bad considering what you are getting for the money. He sells 4-5 a month on average and stocks black. If you want custom LOP; color or camo it's the same price but a little wait for it. If I have a single complaint it's the little tiny baby bolt handle but what do you expect from a light rifle?

Mine's a 7mm Rem Mag and is 6.74 pounds with the factory Talley Lightweight one piece base/rings (no scope). Little skim bed and it shoots 175 X between .6 and .8 every time and 140 Sierra better. For $400 how can you beat that for a back up rifle for NA?

I wonder if they all shoot that well. Our local shop has two of them in 30/06 that they can't seem to get rid off. One of them is pushing the $375 mark. I thought about it, but decided on the NIB 700 ADL in 30/06 for $299.

Super,

Good point, I should have added I tried 150s and 160s with nothing close to an inch. Also while 139 FB Hornady showed real promise other 140s were disappointing.
