Best springbuck bullet in 300H&H?
I have allways used a 6.5 or a 7mm throwing a light fast bullet but I dont live in RSA anymore and with the airlines and all....?
Im taking only my 300H&H(30 06 improved) with two loads. I need help with a dedicated springbuck load. The best and quickest terminal effect Ive ever seen on these animals is with a 270 win with plain old speer bullets placed behind the shoulder...like a lung exploding lightning strike...only organ damage and no time to pump up with adrenaline. I want that same effect from a 30cal. Can you fellers advise?

I used a 300 H&H on springbok and used the bullet I took with me.....a 200 grain A-Frame.

The Springbok was shot in the neck and DRT with very little damage to the mount.

I think the power level of the 30-06-300 H&H is reasonably good and use the 180 or 200 grain bullet that shoots best for everything...don't go with 150 and 200...life isn't that simple.

Use one bullet and hunt them all.....it's advice I was given and it sure was good!

Springbok are about the size of our Pronghorn. It doesn't take much bullet to kill them. If I were wanting a load just for Springbok, any decent cup/core 165gr load would work for me. Fast enough to flatten trajectory, open @ long range & heavy enough to give complete penetration from any angle. thumb I agree w/ Vapo though, working up one bullet weight/load & hunting everything w/ it has merit. A good 180gr premium bullet load would work for just about any PG.

boet, if you will only do springbok hunting, just about any bullet will work. If you plan on doing a lot of springbok with a little other game thrown in, so that the cost of the spingbok load becomes the factor, use normal Speer spitzers and Nosler Partitions of the same weight as they have generally shot to the same point of impact in my rifles. Or just stick to heavier (200gr) bullets like Hornady, and choose your shots on bigger game carefully.

The 300 H&h has a great reputation for shooting the lighter weight bullets well.

For springbok, I'd load the 130grain Speer Hollow Point.

It will electrocute them Big Grin

I'm using a 200gr partition out of my 300 RUM for all the plains game. I would think maybe the 300 H&H could send the partition close to 3000 FPS.
