underwater bullet penetration
who here can tell me what caliber and load/bullet will give maximum penetration into water at an angle of 15 degrees or more?

Assume no chance of a richochet hitting anything but more water(ocean)

I heard from someone that a 30.06 gives the best performance, I don't know from first hand experience, and would like to here from all the experience on this forum.

Sorry, I've no first hand experience, but an old NRA Fact Book says the U.S. Army ran some tests in WW-II. The military FMJ penetrated best (of course). To be safe from the .50's, you needed 5 ft of water. From .30's, you needed 2 ft. The muzzle velocities were about the same for both, but the sectional densities were about .39 and .23. You might be able to make estimates for this.

I belive I read somewhere that 7.62TT(I belive steel core bullet) fired from pistol could be dangerous (fatal) up to 1.5m wher fired at right angle to water . . .

Interesting one could be :
