It's the orginal VZ-24 barrel, cut to 20" glass bedded in a Ramline stock, 3x9 scope. The load does about 2600fps. Kills deer and hogs real well. Kinda loud in a 20" barrel.

The last 2 deer I shot at are very dead, and the bullet hit where the cross hairs said.

The 8 x 57 is not an accurate cartridge at all. In fact it really stinks, and is very obsolete.

The only 8 x 57s that are accurate are the ones that are used by people who have figured out they that don't need some trendy short magnum or some macho caliber, to achieve accuracy and to bring the meat home after being out hunting.

Like all of my older calibered, rifles, I never claim they are accurate. I just contribute to the fantasy of the unknowing that their super new wizbangers, are the only accurate guns on the planet. At least until something newer and trendier comes along.

But for those that shoot them, has anyone ever had an 8 mm Mauser not do what they asked of it, unless it was shot out?
NO one I know has.
