J-PoRemington XCR
Anyone have one of these. How accurate is it? How is the weather resistant coating? I am a left hand shooter and am looking for a bolt action rifle that is weather resistant for east coast deer and bear hunting in .30-06. Any other suggestions? Do they make the Dakota Montana in LH?

Big Bore Boar HunterMy wife had one in 375 H&H, it was a good rifle. The length of pull is 13.5" which makes it too short for me. The WP coating was really well done, but gave the rifle a slightly greenish tint. The nice part was that all of the internals were stainless. The rifles are fairly light as well. The recoil pad was of the R3 (limbsaver type). Accuracy was typical of any out of the box remington, which is to say, good.

R FlowersI own two Remington XCR rifles, one chambered in 300 WSM and another chambered in .375H&H.
I really like the balance and feel of these rifles, they carry like they are lighter than they are.
I really have to admit that I have not truly tested the rust resistance of these things, just has not happened.
Both guns feed well and have no mechanical problems. Both shoot good groups, about 3/4 inch with the 300 WSM and a number of 1 inch groups with the .375H&H.
The .375H&H is a little light weight for that big of a caliber, but I knew that going in. I like it a lot. I think it would be a great gun to take on a coast brown bear hunt or some such thing.
I like my model 700 XCR rifles very much.

Jon2I have one in 7 Rem Mag and it is unbelievably accurate.
It is a stock rifle apart from 2 things. It is in a B&C alu block stock and it has been re-crowned.
It was shooting around the inch to inch and a half originally. I then took it to my smith for him to look at. He noticed straight away that the crown was oval shaped. He took 2 inches off the end (which I wanted him to do to bring it down to 24" as I use a mod on the end) and re-crowned it. It often clover leafs now but always sub half inch consistently.
Don't think the stock made much difference but the re-crown certainly did.
As others I am not sure about the rust proof finish. It hasn't ever rusted on me (I have had it wet a few times) but haven't tested this feature properly really.
