<eldeguello>Haven't heard anything about this, but, except for nostalgic reasons, why would you want to use them when there are so many newer and better designs available today??

(Just curious!!

<JOHAN>Gentlemen
A friend bought a few hundred bullets in 9,3 along with some 9,3X64 ammo not too long ago. I understand the price was a steal
Has anyone tried the TOG?

Danny PayDO YOU MEAN TUG TORPEDO UNIVERSAL GESCHOS"aren't you imperessed by my german

Oh yes it was many years before these so called permium bullets like nosler become known TIG ,TUG and H mantel Has been favorit among the hunters around the world, anyway i like H mantels they are very quick killers on sheep and ibex, but if you want to hunt somthing bigger and tougher then TUG or TIG are better choices.those stark mantels your freind got aren't they solid fmj bulles? i recall the solids were called so if my old brain works right
good hunt

<JOHAN>Gentlemen
From Brennekes website:
"Introduced in the 1930s, the Starkmantel bullet (hard-jacket) gained a legendary reputation among hunters. Now BRENNEKE continues this success with the TOG.
This field-proven hard-jacket design is complemented by the torpedo tail and the sharp-cutting edge, both of which are successful inventions made by the design engineer Wilhelm Brenneke. Additional details such as the innovative bonding method, a new inner groove as well as a hollow point help to create an optimum expansion bullet with unique characteristics: the Original BRENNEKE Torpedo-Optimal-Bullet (TOG).
Characteristics of the TOG:
high bullet base with torpedo tail for optimum interior and muzzle ballistics
bonding method provides reliable combination of bullet jacket and core
strong jacket cover in the guiding surface touching the barrel
new-type inner groove geared to control expansion
distinct sharp-cutting edge for entry hole with cut hair and blood
hollow point provides quick expansion.
Owing to its design features the TOG shows a very favourable ballistic coefficient of .42. The bullet precision thus makes it ideal for long distance shots"

djpaintlesI guess it's unfortunate to own an overcomplicated piece of expensive junk. I must be really lucky that my glorified toy shoots 1/2 minute groups at 300 yds with premium hunting bullets. If it keeps shooting so well I might start thinking that it's a rifle.

Do you know anyone in Germany that have used the TOG for hunting? It would be interesting to know their opion about performance, accuracy etc.
I'm thinking about trying the TOG in 9,3 or in my 8X64S.
Heard anything regarding the Blaser R-93 accidents?
