skl1Re: "Quiet" Muzzle Brakes--any such thing?
JCN,
Thanks.
Can't you get the AMA to lobby for legalization of sound suppressors to save America's hearing?
Those suppressors were nice. Didn't care for the aesthetics, but they have their uses, including protecting hearing.

AnotherAZWriterI own 4 Vias breaks and love them. I sometimes put plugs in before I shoot game. I almost never shoot at a public range.
More than one shooter has suffered detached retinas from soaking up too much recoil. I would rather be a little hard of hearing than mess with my eyes.

djpaintlesIn my not so humble opinion Muzzle breaks should be outlawed on hunting rifles unless you wear muffs. Cropduster you should start saving for hearing aids now, because you are losing some of your hearing every time you shoot that rifle, polite guides or not. Please excuse me for being so blunt but I've learned the hard way that brakes are bad when hunting.
There is not quiet muzzle breaks, there are suppressors but they are a different kettle of fish altogether. Unfortunately our politico's aren't smart enough to realize that a quieter rifle is a good thing and won't allow suppressors without jumping through hoops. We'd be better off if they banned loud muzzle breaks instead.
